Arkansas Off Duty Police Memorial

The following memorials honor fallen Arkansas police officers from law enforcement agencies from around the state. Remember, it's not about how they died ... it's about how they lived.

Dep. Stacy McMurrough, 32

Lafayette County Sheriff's Department

Patrol

Stacy was killed in a one-vehicle accident when he lost control of his patrol unit on wet pavement. He was en route to assist a fellow officer with a domestic disturbance call at the time of the accident.

Stacy also served as a captain on his community's fire department.

Ofc. James Sell

Gassville Police Department

On Feb. 5, 2006, James Sell was shot and killed by an 18-year-old man, a suspect in a hate crime at a Massachusetts gay bar. Authorities believe that the suspect was in Arkansas seeking refuge at a white supremacist camp in the northern part of the state.

Sell was a 27-year retiree from the Blytheville Police Department. While off duty, he loved working on his ranch and tinkering with his two antique cars.

Ofc. Robert Evans, 60

Garland County Juvenile Court

Juvenile Probation, Supervisor

Robert was struck with cancer but refused to stop working. He loved his job, coworkers and the kids too much.
